Fabric Storage Case Study — Cantilever Racking
As an Australian textile enterprise with its own manufacturing plant, its warehouse currently still uses traditional ground stacking to store cloth, with obvious pain points:
- The storage area is cluttered, resulting in severe underutilization of vertical space.
- Repeated handling is required for storage and retrieval, which is inefficient and prone to goods falling and damage;
- The warehouse area is not clearly divided, and forklift operations are prone to collisions, posing potential safety hazards.
The customer hopes to upgrade the shelves to maximize the utilization rate of warehouse space while ensuring storage and operational safety.
Combined with the customer’s core needs of “maximizing warehouse space utilization and ensuring storage safety”, we designed and recommended two sizes of heavy-duty cantilever racks to adapt to the storage of cloth of different lengths. The combination of main and add-on frame is adopted to reduce procurement costs, and the specific dimensions are as follows:
- Size 1: 5000×1100×2500mm, 500kg load-bearing per layer, 28 sets in total
- Size 2: 3000×1800×2500mm, 500kg load-bearing per layer, 30 sets in total
The solution perfectly fits the warehouse layout and has obvious customized advantages, as follows:
- Suitable for long strip cloth, stored horizontally by hanging to ensure the cloth does not touch the ground and avoid friction damage.
- The cloth is hung in the air without extrusion, effectively protecting fragile materials and reducing the damage rate.
- Each roll of cloth is independently hung and clearly visible, eliminating the need for searching and improving the efficiency of picking, storage and retrieval.
- Make full use of vertical space, standardize the layout of the warehouse area, and solve the problems of messy materials and space waste.
- The shelf has strong flexibility, and accessories such as baffles can be added to prevent cloth rolls from sliding and ensure storage safety.
- “One roll per position” management, barcode labels can be pasted to realize classification and traceability, and improve the level of refined warehouse management.
- The storage capacity is 3 times that of traditional stacking, maximizing the value of warehouse space and meeting customer needs.
